Office Installation - Removing Counterfeit Office License.

Because Product Key Philippines only sell genuine licenses, an issue may arise during installation if the device had a history of a pirated Office installation. Removing the pirated license is required before a genuine Office can be installed. The 2 screenshots below are the most common error messages when you are an unknowing victim of software counterfeiting:

Regardless of how many times you will attempt to activate Office using a genuine license, these error messages will persist if the counterfeit licenses are not removed first because Office license is not stored in the software itself but rather, in the operating system.

1. Open Command Prompt. Right click and select Run as administrator.

2. Click Yes on the succeeding prompt to allow the app to make changes to your device.

3. In the command prompt, enter the correct command according to your software architecture below:

3A. If you installed a 64-bit counterfeit Office on a 64-bit version of Windows, type the command:

cscript “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS” /dstatus

3B. If you installed a 32-bit counterfeit Office on a 64-bit version of Windows, type the command:

cscript “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS” /dstatus

3C. If you installed a 32-bit counterfeit Office on a 32-bit version of Windows, type the command:

cscript “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS” /dstatus

4. If you are not certain about your software and OS architecture, you can do a trial and error as any 1 of the 3 commands above will certainly work. This command will reveal the license name, description, expiration, status and error. Focus on the license description as most counterfeit licenses uses KMS activation and will return a VOLUME_KMSCLIENT channel on the description.

5. Take note of the Last 5 characters of installed product key just below the error code and error description. We will need this information when removing the counterfeit license.

6. Remove the counterfeit license by entering the correct command according to your software architecture below. Note that you need to replace XXXXX with the actual last 5 characters of the counterfeit license.

6A. If you installed a 64-bit counterfeit Office on a 64-bit version of Windows, type the command:

cscript “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS” /unpkey:XXXXX

6B. If you installed a 32-bit counterfeit Office on a 64-bit version of Windows, type the command:

cscript “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS” /unpkey:XXXXX

6C. If you installed a 32-bit counterfeit Office on a 32-bit version of Windows, type the command:

cscript “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS” /unpkey:XXXXX

7. If you are unsure if you are using a 32 or 64-bit software, you can do a trial and error by entering all of the commands above while replacing XXXXX with the actual last 5 characters of the counterfeit license.

8. If successful, the command prompt will show <Product key uninstall successful>.
